AOC

I created this editorial illustration piece about the US congresswoman, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. At the 2021 Met Gala, AOC wore a dress with one of her signature sayings "tax the rich" across the back. There is a lot of controversy going around from saying she's simply doing it for publicity to sell her merchandise, to she's a hypocrite for spending time with rich, elites in society, or that she's revolutionary for this statement. There's really no in-between. I wanted to portray both her position, as well as the 'buzz' surrounding her. So, I made the buzz literally surround her and turned her dress into the US Capitol building - where Congress meets - and spray painted the infamous words "tax the rich" across it in case you didn't see it written the 20 other times within the illustration.
